Karate is an art of self defence. The word 'Karate' is a combination of  two japanese characters: 'kara' means empty and 'te' means hand,thus karate means 'empty hand'. It is a Japanese art which originated in the island of Okinawa.Karate is a striking art using punching,kicking,knee strikes,elbow strikesand open hand techniques such as knife- hands,spear-hands and palm -heel strikes.In the practice of karate ,our arms and legs Infact our whole body becomes our weapon.

Shotokan karate is one of the strongest forms(style) of karate practiced in the world .It emphasizes on the use of the movement of the waist and the power of breathing to generate power from the body to deliver powerful strikes.Shotokan  karate is recognizable by its linear,direct punching,blocking and kicking techniques from low stances.

SK does not only help in building self defence but in true sense it purifies the soul of the practitioner.Therefore,it has a great appeal to the people for overall grooming of an individual.With regular practice,one can achieve immense physical as well as mental strenght to face and solve the day to day problems in present stressful life.Moreover,SK improves the quality of life by gradually attaining inner peace that helps the person to conquer the anger(which is supposed to be the greatest enemy of oneself) and also by keeping the person away from bad habits.

The style of karate we teach is Shotokan Karate. There are 4 styles of karate under WKF (World Karate Federataion) which are Shotokan, Shito-ryu, Wadu-ryu, Goju-ryu. We teach is Shotokan karate which  is considered to be the strongest of all the styles of karate.

This question would bring forward different answers from different people depending on how much they have practiced and for how long they have been learning it. For kids we try and make sure that the children must enjoy the karate trainig with lots offun at the same time .However,for adults we try to impart the knowledge along with the vigorous training modules.

Not at all. Anyone who has the will to learn and is mature enough to understand the teachings and methods of karate are always welcome. From kids as young as 5 year to  any age can learn karate . you only need to have  the desire  and the will power/perseverance to continue the training.

With regular practice having two classes in a week it takes about 4 years to achieve a black belt.
